What the ballot changes

• The erratum revises Section 10.2.2 (4).
• It deletes the prior ordering of two requirements and replaces it with:
  • Verification of the Third-Party Validator first.
  • Cross-checking of Information second.
• The revised text requires the CA to:
  • Independently verify that the Third-Party Validator is a legally-qualified Latin Notary or Notary, or legal equivalent in the applicant’s jurisdiction, lawyer, or accountant in the jurisdiction of the Individual’s residency, and that the validator actually performed the services and attested to the Individual’s signature.
  • Obtain the signed and attested Personal Statement together with the attested copy of the current signed government-issued photo identification document.
  • Review the documentation to confirm the information is consistent, matches the application, and identifies the Individual.
  • Allow reliance on electronic copies if the CA confirms authenticity with the Third-Party Validator and if such electronic copies are recognized as legal substitutes for originals under the laws of the CA’s jurisdiction.

Timing

• The ballot review period comes into effect at 2100 UTC on 8 Apr ’10 and closes at 2100 UTC on 15 Apr ’10.
• Unless withdrawn during the review period, the voting period starts immediately afterward and closes at 2100 UTC on 22 Apr ’10.
• The motion text says: Effective immediately.

Compliance date

• The ballot’s requirement takes effect immediately.
