Ballot overview

• Ballot 43 – Business Categories was passed unanimously.

• It inserts the new allowed Business Category strings:
  • Private Organization
  • Government Entity
  • Business Entity
  • Non-Commercial Entity
• The replacement string used depends on whether the Subject qualifies under sections 7.2.2, 7.2.3, 7.2.4, or 7.2.5 of the guidelines.

Timing

• The ballot review period began at 2100 UTC on 8 Apr 2010 and closed at 2100 UTC on 15 Apr 2010.
• The voting period started immediately after the review period and closed at 2100 UTC on 22 Apr 2010.
• The motion became effective 180 days after ratification, which the ballot states as 19 Oct 2010.

Compliance impact

• CAs were required to update the Business Category field contents to use the new strings by the effective date.
• The ballot text does not provide any additional phasing or certificate-type-specific conditions beyond the stated effective date.
