Outcome

• The ballot page states that Ballot 48 – Telephone Number at Place of Business passed unanimously.
• The motion was made by Ben Wilson and endorsed by Rich Smith and Jay Schiavo.

Main change

• The ballot makes an erratum to Section 10.4.2 on Telephone Number for Applicant’s Place of Business.
• It changes the requirement from verifying the telephone number provided by the Applicant as a main phone number for the Applicant’s Place of Business to verifying a main telephone number for one of the Applicant’s Places of Business.

Updated verification rule

• A CA must verify a main telephone number for one of the Applicant’s Places of Business.
• To verify the telephone number, the CA must perform item A and either B or C.

Acceptable verification methods

• Item A: confirm the Applicant’s telephone number by calling it and obtaining an affirmative response sufficient to conclude that the Applicant is reachable at that number.
• Item B: confirm that the telephone number is listed as one of the Applicant’s, Parent/Subsidiary Company’s, or Principal Individual’s for business entities telephone numbers, matching an address of one of the Applicant’s Places of Business in records from the applicable phone company or in at least one QIIS, QGIS, or QTIS.
• Item C: rely on a Verified Legal Opinion or a Verified Accountant Letter stating that the Applicant’s telephone number is a main phone number for the Applicant’s Place of Business.

Timing

• The ballot review period starts at 2100 UTC on 22 July 2010 and closes at 2100 UTC on 29 July 2010.
• Unless withdrawn during review, the voting period starts immediately after review and closes at 2100 UTC on 5 August 2010.
• The motion states that the erratum is effective immediately.
