eMudhra requests removal of two dual-purpose roots from NSS
eMudhra requested full removal of two root certificates, emSign Root CA - C1 and emSign ECC Root CA - C3, from NSS. The request followed up on Bug 2018979 and superseded an earlier distrust-after proposal for these roots. eMudhra said the roots are being retired as part of its transition away from dual-purpose roots, and that they are not part of its future hierarchy. The company asked for removal of both roots, including all trust bits and any EV treatment, in the next available NSS release. eMudhra stated that no TLS server certificates or S/MIME certificates had been issued under either root, except for test certificates used for its test websites. The bug was resolved after the NSS changes were pushed.
